I was annoyed that the recommended desktop method simply didn’t work for me – I was going to do it graphically, but the update wizard was never offered, even once I was up to date.

The ‘server version’ giving the nice supported command-line method . I used your method, and everything was fine, but I believe using the recommended route is meant to cause less strange things to happen.
